Body By O Internacional with Wellness Athlete Aline Barreto

The 2020 NPC contest season got off to a great start this season with the new Wellness category highlighting the NPC Muscle Contest Challenge event.

Body By O coach Kim Oddo was in Los Angeles with his newest angel Aline Barreto entered in the new class. Kim and Aline just started working together for the first time a little less than 12 weeks ago. Originally from Cabo Frio Brazil, the 10X Wellness champion had chalked up quite a resume competing internationally. However, this was the first time she was paired up with Body By O for her contest prep in America. 

Aline started weight training when she was 16 years old, but had no intention of competing. She was always thin and wanted to improve her appearance. At the age of 18, she became pregnant with her first child and she gained 55 lbs. (25 kg) from the fifth to the ninth month. After her pregnancy, with her fast metabolism she lost the weight without much effort. However, Aline identified herself by her pregnancy weight and soon developed anorexia, one of the worst eating disorders. 

After a difficult struggle and dietary education, Aline discovered bodybuilding as a foundation of discipline and training to change her life.  She conquered her disorder to achieve an enviable and coveted body.  In 2012, she entered her first competition and competed through 2015 highlighted by wins at the Arnold Classic Wellness. After five years off the stage, she was ready to make a return with the NPC in the Wellness category.

Barreto originally reached out to Body By O, but feared there would be a language barrier because her native language is Portuguese. Oddo offered her a free consultation and was able to translate his contest prep program so she could easily understand what the 5X Olympia winning coach was prescribing for her nutrition, supplementation and training program. Now living in Miami, Kim reassured Aline that they could be successful without being local to each other. In fact, the two had never met before the NPC event at The Fit Expo Los Angeles last weekend.

On Friday, Kim met up with Aline at her hotel to work with her on her final contest preparations. On Saturday, Oddo had her dialed in and ready to take the stage for the first time in America. After finding the Brasilian bombshell in the first callout, she took second place in a tightly contested competition. Coach Kim Oddo was pleased with the result noting, “Aline Berreto is an amazing example of the Wellness division, with a blend of muscle and femininity. She is a truly gifted athlete and I see great things for her in the future. I’m excited about the opportunity to work with her.” 

Aline was grateful to have shared her first competition in America with Kim, "Sim! Kim foi maravilhoso. Estou muito satisfeito com a maneira como ele trabalhou comigo! Kim was wonderful. I am very pleased with the way he worked with me! Despite the language barrier, I promise to learn how to make our job easier. Kim was exceptional!! Super attentive and careful with me all the time. He is a love!”
